Returns Policy
Your legal rights come first. Nothing in this policy reduces the rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 — where this policy and the law differ, the law applies. Arteify acts as agent for the seller, so your contract of sale is with the seller and we handle returns on their behalf.
1. Every purchase — items must be as described
Every item on Arteify must match its description and be the seller’s to sell. If something arrives materially not as described, damaged, counterfeit, or where the seller did not have the right to sell it, you can return it for a full refund. Tell us within 30 days of delivery. This applies to every sale — business or private seller, fixed price or auction — and cannot be excluded.
2. Fixed-price purchases from a business seller — 14-day cancellation
When you buy a fixed-price item from a business seller, this is a distance sale, so you may cancel within 14 days of the day after you receive it, for any reason. You then have 14 days to return it. We refund the price and the standard outbound delivery cost within 14 days of the item being returned (or of proof you have sent it back). Return postage for a change-of-mind cancellation is paid by you; we cover return postage for faulty or not-as-described items. The cancellation right does not apply to made-to-order or personalised items, or the other narrow categories the law excludes.
3. Auction wins
When you win a lot from a business seller in one of our online auctions, this is a distance sale. An online auction is not a “public auction” in the legal sense — that requires the option to attend in person — so you have the same 14-day right to cancel as a fixed-price purchase (see section 2). You then have 14 days to return the lot, and return postage for a change-of-mind cancellation is paid by you. This does not apply to lots sold by private sellers (section 4), or to any auction you are able to attend in person, where sales are final once the hammer falls. Your “as described” and faulty-goods protections (sections 1 and 5) apply to every auction purchase.
4. Items sold by private sellers
Items sold by private individuals (rather than businesses) are not distance sales by a trader, so the 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply. Your protection is that the item must be as described and the seller must have the right to sell it — if either fails, section 1 applies and you receive a full refund. If you are unsure whether your purchase was from a business or a private seller, contact us and we will tell you.
5. Faulty items
If an item is faulty, you have up to 30 days to reject it for a full refund, with further rights to a repair or replacement after that, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
6. How to start a return
Email info@arteify.com with your order number within the relevant window above. For high-value or fragile works, please do not send anything back until we confirm the method — we will arrange insured, tracked return logistics.
7. Condition of returned goods
You may examine an item as you would in a shop. If its value is reduced by handling beyond what is necessary to check it, we may make a proportionate deduction from your refund.
Your statutory rights are not affected. Depending on the type of sale and whether the seller is a business or a private individual, you may have additional rights — including, for eligible distance purchases, a right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To check which rights apply to your purchase, contact info@arteify.com.
