RB Art Gallery

The Robert Badenhorst Art Gallery was founded on a shared dream and a lifelong passion for South African art. Robert Badenhorst was an accomplished South African artist whose love for art was inspired by his father, the well-known South African artist François Badenhorst. Together with his fiancée and business partner, Lientjie van Graan, Robert established the first Robert Badenhorst Art Gallery in the picturesque town of Clarens in the Free State. Their vision was to create more than a gallery—they wanted to create a welcoming space where people could discover, appreciate and collect exceptional South African art while connecting with the stories behind every artist and every artwork. Tragically, Robert passed away when their daughter, Katryn Badenhorst, was only three and a half years old. Although his life was cut short, his passion for South African art and his vision for the gallery continue to inspire everything we do. Determined to preserve and grow the legacy that she and Robert had built together, Lientjie continued leading the Robert Badenhorst Art Gallery. In 2020, the gallery entered a new chapter when it relocated to Linden, Randburg, where it continued to showcase carefully curated collections by both established and emerging South African artists while building lasting relationships with artists and collectors alike. Today, the gallery has evolved once again. While our physical gallery has closed, the Robert Badenhorst Art Gallery continues as an online gallery, bringing exceptional South African art to collectors throughout South Africa and beyond. Our online platform enables art lovers to discover and acquire original works from the comfort of their homes while continuing to support the remarkable talent of South African artists.
